StarLuna has chosen not to utilize generative A.I. technologies for everyday operations at this time due to significant concerns regarding security, privacy and confidentiality. Generative A.I. oftentimes is pervasive allowing it to have direct access to sensitive information. The current state of Generative A.I systems doesn’t provide adequate assurance that the data it collects can be fully protected from data breaches.
In addition, generative A.I. doesn’t yet possess the intelligence to operate beyond the biases that its programmers may have. As a result, it may perpetuate problematic concepts which would be counterintuitive to our efforts. Our highest priority at StarLuna has been and will remain dismantling barriers and structures that support division and discrimination. We will continue to honor our work and the confidentiality and integrity of our clients’ information by choosing not to utilize generative A.I.
Generative A.I. has negative impacts on the environment, directly affecting communities of color and low-income communities all around the world. In addition, A.I. companies have been using the creative work and scholarship of artists, musicians, authors, designers, and other creatives without permission or compensation. Public policy has not been developed to hold A.I. companies accountable for their improper and indiscriminate use of original works without consent. Plagiarism and theft are unethical whether it’s by done by an individual human or an A.I. algorithm.
